Postal History of Cowlitz County, Washington
A book by Ted Gruber
This page will be revised periodically with new information, corrections, and postmark catalog updates.
A published postmark catalog is never a finished product, but a snapshot of known postmarks and their Earliest Known Use (EKU) and Latest Known Use (LKU) at the time of publication. A postmark catalog is an evolving document because postmarks may surface from post offices from which no postmarks are currently known, new postmark types may be found, or examples of known postmarks will almost certainly be discovered that extend their EKU and/or LKU.
The following updates to the postmark catalog in Chapter 5 have been reported or found since the book was published. These include new postmark types, date extensions for postmarks included in the published catalog, and corrections. For new postmark types, click on the link to show an image of the postmark.
New postmark types are assigned a temporary type number sequenced according to their EKU. For example, if a Type 7 postmark for a given post office has an EKU of 1905, and a Type 8 postmark for that same post office has an EKU of 1911, a new postmark type from that post office with an EKU of 1909 would be assigned Type 7.5.
